Published in the Dear Deidre column of todays Sun newspaper ....
"My wife snores terribly and refuses to get any help about it. We're in our 30s. My wife is overweight and she smokes and occasionally drinks. Her snoring is so bad that it sometimes wakes her up - but it keeps me awake for hours.
I now sleep downstairs, which isn't doing our marriage any good. I'm still exhausted during the day and struggle to keep from nodding off at work. I've begged my wife to get medical advice but she refuses."
Deirdre says: If she lost weight, cut out the smoking and drank less, she might stop snoring. But you can't make her do these things. Tell her you are worried about her health.
She can get help from the British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association.

Madge & Guy
We mentioned that Madonna was having a spot of bother with her husbands snoring a month or two ago, and it seems this has now become a critical issue. contactmusic.com reports that Madonna is forcing Guy to undergo treatment so she can get some sleep ahead of forthcoming world tour.
"He's a very loud snorer. It's the worst." says Madonna ... I bet there are a few long suffering wives, husbands and partners out there who would dispute that claim!!!

How Times Have Changed
It's been playing on my mind for what seems like ages now, and finally I've pulled my finger out and started a permanent blog for BSSAA. We did a trial back in April running for the duration of National Stop Snoring Week and that was well received ... so now, just 6 months later, I'm at it once more.
So how should I start this new area to the British Snoring web site? Proclaim some new miracle cure for all snorers ... I don't think so ... not yet anyway :) It struck me the best thing would be to look back at how it all started in February 1998. The British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association have been in existence for longer (since 1992 FYI), but Feb 1998 is the first available incarnation of the web site on the waybackmachine. So there it is, one long page with some coloured boxes and a nifty counter at the bottom. I think we've come a long way since then!!!
So that's it ... first post over!!
